St. Francisville Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements

The Town of St Francisville’s wastewater treatment plant was located within the flood plain and was subject to flooding during Mississippi River high water events.  During these events plant operation was unattainable.  The project included the construction of a new mechanical type of extended aeration wastewater treatment facility at a location not affected by flooding, construction of new associated conveyance raw water pump stations, and the abandonment of the oxidation pond.  The existing collection system was intercepted at two critical locations by influent pump stations and force mains which re-directed the untreated sewer to the new location.  An effluent pump station and force main was required to discharge the treated effluent.  The final contract (currently underway) consists of the abandonment in-place of the wastewater treatment oxidation pond by lime treatment to stabilize the in-situ material to a PH of 12 as well as bringing in import fill. The Town used a combination of a loan and an American Rescue Plan Act-Water Sector Grant to fund the project.
